Tell us about your journey as a recruiter
I started in 2007 and the world of recruitment has changed immensely since then! Having the opportunity to work with amazing clients over that time has been a highlight and as a business owner I still partner with some of those original leaders after almost 20 years. I’ve been fortunate to specialse in the tech space and be a part of the journey for the delivery of major projects along the way.
What changes do you see happening in the recruitment industry in the next 12 months?
The industry is changing faster now than in any other period over the last two decades and that has an impact for clients, candidates and everyone in our space. The rise of AI is top of mind for everyone (and every news story it seems) Those changes will help improve the way we work and engage on all sides and most likely, change the skills needed to be successful in recruitment. AI levels the playing field and will mean that more than ever, it’s the ability to understand the real problems clients are looking to solve and the skills to build relationships that matter. The new blend will be about high-tech fluency and making real connections.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?
Long term talent attraction is often about how candidates feel about your business regardless of the outcome. Those who lead the way in engaging processes, real feedback and structured, timely processes will win the next race for talent. Communication throughout a hiring process makes a real difference and helps create advocates for your business even if they don’t work there! Partner with someone who can support you to create a world class candidate experience.
