What changes do you see happening in the recruitment industry in the next 12 months?
As the job market continues to evolve, staying ahead of recruitment trends is crucial for both job seekers and employers. With its growing economy and diverse industries, Brisbane is being viewed as an attractive hub for businesses and job seekers alike. We are seeing an uplift across the repatriation talent pool, particularly as Brisbane is being viewed as a preferred destination from an affordability perspective verse other states across Australia. Additionally, Brisbane is leaning into an exciting period with numerous generational infrastructure projects, transition to renewable energy targets and the 2032 Olympics.
As businesses continue to invest in digital transformation, the demand for professionals with tech skills will continue to rise. Roles such as software developers, data analysts, and cybersecurity experts will be in high demand. With Brisbane’s growing reputation as a tech hub, job seekers with these skills will have ample opportunities to showcase their expertise and secure opportunities.
While technical skills remain important, there is an increasing recognition of the value of soft skills in the workplace. Employers in Brisbane are placing a greater emphasis on qualities such as communication, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities. Job seekers who can effectively demonstrate these skills will have a competitive advantage in the job market.
Diversity and inclusion have become key priorities for many organisations, and this trend will continue. Companies are recognising the importance of creating an inclusive work environment that embraces diversity in all its forms. Over the next 12 months, we can expect to see an increased focus on diversity recruitment strategies, including targeted hiring practices and unconscious bias training.
In a competitive job market, organisations are realising the significance of employer branding and providing a positive candidate experience. Companies are investing more in showcasing their company culture, values, and benefits to attract top talent. Additionally, streamlining the recruitment process and ensuring a smooth candidate experience will be crucial in securing the best candidates.
With the rapid pace of technological advancement, upskilling and reskilling will be essential for both job seekers and employers. Companies will increasingly invest in training programs to upskill their existing workforce, while job seekers will need to adapt and acquire new skills to remain competitive. Continuous learning and development will play a vital role in career progression.
The recruitment landscape in Brisbane is set to undergo several significant changes over the next 12 months. Remote work opportunities, the demand for tech skills, emphasis on soft skills, diversity and inclusion, employer branding, and upskilling efforts will shape the job market. Job seekers who are aware of these trends and proactively adapt to them will be well-positioned to seize exciting career opportunities in Brisbane’s thriving economy. Similarly, employers who embrace these trends will be able to attract and retain top talent in this competitive job market.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?
Improve the Candidate Experience. The recruitment process should be smooth, transparent, and respectful. Simplify application procedures, provide timely updates, and offer constructive feedback. A positive candidate experience creates a lasting impression and can help you build a talent pipeline for future positions.
