Tell us about your journey as a recruiter
I was working in Banking not long after leaving school, one day I was introduced to a friend of a friend who was an established Executive Recruiter. This conversation inspired me to explore the industry, little did I know that 20 years on I would own my own recruitment firm.
I have always enjoyed the people aspect, the relationships you make and the sheer variety of recruitment. Each client, candidate and role are different, bringing people together and seeing a solution formed is ultimately what I love about my career.
What changes do you see happening in the recruitment industry in the next 12 months?
I still believe we are in unchartered waters regarding how the pandemic will effect the workforce long-term. I am of the belief that hybrid working is here to stay and the growth of contracting and freelancing will continue to trend upwards.
Some things will always remain the same though, for example companies will continue to need designated recruiters to source specialist talent.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?
As the market for talent continues to tighten next year, keep an open mind and be willing to invest in up and coming talent. Attitude and capability will go a long way and often people who are looking for that ‘foot in the door’ opportunity will be the most committed.
