Tell us about your journey as a recruiter

After carving a mixed career in management roles within insurance and then finance – I started in Auckland as a specialist recruiter, in Public Practice Accounting in late 2018 (at an agency that has actually placed me twice in the past).

I fell into recruitment while searching for a role that allowed me to be my social self, and build strong relationships. I love consulting and being the middle-man between a happy client and a happy candidate. With a very consultative approach, I enjoy delivering positive outcomes while working with people.

What's been your experience using TalentVine?

TalentVine has allowed me to get testimonials from New Zealand, and put a fair case forward when submitting for roles. It changes a business’ approach when selecting a recruiter to partner with – because it is less about who they know best, and more about picking a consultant that can deliver the best outcomes. So far, so good.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?

With permanent recruitment, partnership is the most important thing when you are trying to achieve a win-win-win situation.

As we all know, the market is driven by great candidates now. That’s why employers need to sell their businesses as the place to be. Let the candidate speak, find out what’s important and sell the opportunity based on what they’re looking for. A great business that delivers a poor interview process can easily lose out on the best people.
