Tell us about your agency and the work you do
Just Digital People are a specialist agency in the IT, Digital, Design and Marketing space. We have changed the status quo of recruitment and built a business and brand that resonates with our markets, through our own marketing, industry events and community insights we are recognised as one of the “go to” agencies in the Digital space for hiring top tier talent across Australia and further afield.
A reputation that has seen the business partner with some of the most diverse and emerging companies across Australia and the UK. JDP operate within niche verticals, that in turn gives us the competitive edge whilst engaging with clients who wish to see a fluid turnaround.
We have won a number of awards last year with Sourcr, and are continuously looking to improve and build on our reputation after the last decade in business.
While all sales roles pose their own set of challenges, what sets recruitment apart is that people are at the very heart of the equation. Unlike other sales professions, where the focus is on convincing a company to buy a product, as a recruiter, the task is to align the wants, needs and desires of individual candidates with those of the organisation in a way that fosters mutual value. This is where the true artistry of recruitment comes in and is an area in which I believe I have thrived.
What changes do you see happening in the recruitment industry in the next 12 months?
We have already seen significant changes from the previous 12 months, where we saw, what I would call “recruitment utopia.” Now it’s back to a market that I have been used to in my 10+ years in Recruitment. It’s back to a hard grind, and business development becoming more and more difficult. So I expect a lot of movement and recruiters leaving the industry – and those that stick with it will thrive. I also expect AI tools to become more and more prevalent to take away the time consuming exercises, which will leave more time for us to be doing what we do best – getting in front of clients and candidates
What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?
Don’t let the “better market conditions” fool you… yes there are candidates more readily available in parts than they have been over the past few years due to more freedom of movement and people making their way here again. But competition is still very high, and the best candidates are getting 2,3,4 offers. So make sure your process is smooth, transparent and quick. Just because someone has faced a redundancy doesn’t mean they will sit through 6 interviews.
I have also seen a shift in candidates not purely looking at salary as we saw in the post-COVID boom. Candidates are still looking at the $$$ figure of course, but they are not just going to jump into something for the money – they are moreso than ever looking at flexibility and work from home / hybrid models and job security is a huge one at the moment. So be prepared to answer questions around these factors in your interviews.
