Tell us about your journey as a recruiter
My journey in recruitment started back in 2016 with CK Recruitment where I was able to discover my passion for helping people find the right opportunities. I started out as a receptionist, where I learnt about the foundations of what recruitment involved. After 6 months of learning and upskilling myself I moved into an account management role.
One of the most rewarding features has been building long-term relationships with both clients and candidates, understanding their needs, and helping them achieve their goals which has led to many successful permanent and labour hire placements for my first-class candidates. This has given me opportunities to work with both large and small companies, which has allowed me to develop a wide scale of knowledge across different industries.
What changes do you see happening in the recruitment industry in the next 12 months?
The recruitment industry is evolving rapidly, and over the next 12 months I picture the recruitment industry to have more companies adopting AI-driven tools for resume screening, candidate matching, and initial interview stages. We will see the hiring processes have a restructure which will be designed to eliminate bias using blind recruitment and structured interviews.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to employers?
Prioritise hiring for attitude and cultural fit over just skills and experience. Skills can be taught, but a candidate’s mindset, adaptability, and alignment with your company values will determine long-term success. Look for people who are eager to learn, collaborative, and aligned with your mission—those are the employees who will thrive and help your business grow.
